Armor
Screen has experienced four major hurricanes this summer,
2004, with wind forces ranging from 2 through 5, the
strongest category. Charley came ashore as category 4, but
went through quickly, almost like an oversized tornado.
Frances, onshore as category 3, was very slow and pounded
buildings for two full days finding any structural weakness. |
The Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) has released a story
about using Armor Screen to protect emergency resources during the
recent storms.
City and County officials can find information on
accessing FEMA funding for similar community projects. “Our stations
were built in the ‘60s and ‘70s when building codes did not require
hurricane resistant structures. Once barrier screens are installed, we
are assured of maintaining operational readiness during and following
severe weather. Barrier screens are our most cost-effective way of
achieving this goal.”

Grand Cayman Island in the
Caribbean was struck by a category 5 storm, Ivan, with
reportedly 95% significant damage. Our dealer reported that
the Armor Screen protected structures fared very well. In
particular he was very pleased that supermarkets he had
protected with Armor Screen remained in excellent condition. |

| “Armor Screen deployed quickly and on short notice after Ivan
turned, and stored easily the next morning. We had protected the
most exposed doors and windows with Armor Screen and had no water
penetration in these areas. We expect to cover the remainder of our
more sheltered openings as the rain did work back into these areas.”
Amil Giulio, Manager of Shadow Wood, an exclusive clubhouse with
banks of 8’ French doors, discussing ordering for the water damaged
areas. |

“The Armor Screen worked amazingly well for our Hillsborough
shelters," said a construction manager discussing the many Armor
Screen protected public shelters.. |
“We were very worried about tree limbs flying around, but it worked
great! It was very quick to put up and then to store immediately
after. We lost no business.” Tom Gould, Daytona Cingular store
manager.
Diana Cullity believes that as a result of Armor Screen protection,
she has the only house in her gated community that had no water
damage from driving rain being forced into crevices and around
moldings. She endured both Frances and Jeanne.
The Orange County Emergency command center is the command center for
the Disneyworld area, and is possibly the most sophisticated center
in Florida. Continuous operation during any emergency is crucial.
The center was protected by various types of Armor Screen
installations, including 29’ tall rollup screens protecting
entrances and banks of windows. These screens withstood the full
onslaught of hurricanes Charley and Frances, including having 15’
tall trees bounce off.
Daytona International Airport used Armor Screen to protect their
passenger terminal, including some wall sections known to be at risk
for water intrusion. They were so pleased with performance through
Charley that they ordered additional screens for other parts of the
airport.

| Stories of screened pool enclosures,
“Armor Screen is wonderful. Not only
did it protect us but we put Armor Screen around three sides of a
porch as a very comfortable smoking room.” Rosemary McMahon, Manager
of an assisted living facility run by the Catholic Diocese of West
Palm Beach. |

“I, along with eight others rode out
hurricane Ivan at the McCollough Institute…(Armor Screen) worked
marvelously…I would feel comfortable anywhere these were being used.
I was genuinely surprised with their durability. I would not only
purchase them for my home, but would recommend them to my friends as
well.” This from a director of the world renowned McCollough
Institute after riding out a direct hit from Category 4 hurricane
Ivan in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
One couple sat on their porch behind
Armor Screen as an embedded tornado picked up their pool enclosure
and wrapped it around a neighbor’s tree. Another had 30 members of
the extended family plus pets safely at their home and could not
have done so without the use of her large porch protected by Armor
Screen. One 10 year old enjoyed spending Frances playing poker on
the Armor Screen wrapped porch, with his octogenarian grandparents.
 |
Stories of screened pool enclosures,
with “razor sharp edges” collapsing onto the Armor Screen protecting
the porch, and being supported by it through the balance of the
storm are not unusual. Experienced hurricane sufferers were amazed
that the usual rain penetration was stopped.

We have a myriad of other
testimonials, mostly from home owners who spent much of the storm on
their porch or in their carport protected by Armor Screen, while
they watched the wind and rain rage around them.
